Mattress Types & Makeup

Zoma sells two types of mattresses, the Zoma Mattress and the Zoma Hybrid.

Zoma Mattress

The Zoma Mattress is the one most recommended for athletes. It’s constructed with all foam, and has a cooling gel memory foam layer with three zones. The top layer offers a trademarked responsive “bounce back” feature to avoid that “sinking” feeling that some other foam mattresses have. The bottom is supported by a thick layer of firm support foam that provides all-over support for those with back or spine issues. The entire mattress is covered with an airy cover that stays cool all over. The AirCloth, as they call it, is ultra-stretchy and ventilated. It’s also high-performance, designed to last the lifetime of the mattress.

Zoma Hybrid

The Zoma Hybrid mattress is constructed with four layers as well, but it has coils as well as foam. The entire mattress is covered with the AiryCloth layer, which is made to stay cool through ventilation performance fabric. Beneath that is the cooling comfort foam later, which is breathable foam that is perforated in order to whisk body heat away from the person while they are sleeping. It’s a foam that is incorporated with pressure-relieving gel for added comfort. Next is the Reactiv layer, which offers responsive relief and bounces back so that the sleeper doesn’t feel “stuck” atop the mattress foam. The bottom layer is the thick support layer which is comprised of wrapped coils in a foam surround. It provides spine support, proper alignment, a little bit o f extra springiness and support around the perimeter of the mattress.

Comfort & Support

Both Zoma mattress types have multiple features designed to offer comfort and support. Motion isolation is one such feature. Since both of these mattress types have memory foam, the motion isolation provided by this material is provided. But with the Zoma mattresses, the memory foam layer isn’t too thick, which enables it to offer resilience, as well. Another big comfort feature is pressure relief. Even big and tall sleepers will wake up feeling comfortable, due to the zoned comfort layer. The mattresses cushion the shoulders and hips so that pressure points are not aggravated. Finally, the Zoma mattresses offer effective temperature control, so that the sleeper doesn’t get overheated during sleep. This is achieved through a ventilated cover and perforated foam layers.

Purchase & Delivery Process

Zoma mattresses can be purchased directly through the Zoma website. Some third-party retailers also sell Zoma mattresses. Larger big box stores like Walmart, Amazon and Target also sell this brand. Shipping with Zoma is free to the contiguous U.S. Special shipping rates are available to customers outside this area. The mattress ships about three to five days after the order is place. Arrival time is about one to five days after that, via Federal Express. The mattress arrives compressed, inside of a box. Customers are advised to unbox the mattress in the room where it will be used. Decompression takes at least a day or two so the foam has a chance to reach its full size. However, it can be slept on after only four to six hours after the unboxing. Zoma does not offer old mattress removal or white glove delivery services.

Customer Support

Customers get a 100-day free trial to try out the mattress. If unsatisfied, they can return the mattress for a full refund, even if they purchased it from a brick and mortar store instead of from the Zoma website. The only caveat is that Zoma asks customers to wait to make a final decision on whether or not to keep it until at least 30 days. This allows the body to adjust to the new feel. If a return is still desired, Zoma will pick up the mattress free of charge, at which point it will be donated or recycled.. Note that the customer doesn’t need to return the original box.

A 10-year, non-prorated warranty against manufacturer defects is provided with every purchase of a Zoma mattress.

Bottom Line

With a generous return policy and a 10-year warranty on defects, there’s really no reason to at least try a Zoma mattress. If it’s good enough for professional athletes, it will likely certainly be good enough for nearly anyone else.
